WANT TO BECOME A MEMBER OR RENEW MEMBERSHIP?

There are a number of membership categories within the Broome SLSC as outlined below.

Junior Membership#top
Junior (Nipper) members shall be a minimum of seven (7) years of age and up to a maximum of thirteen (13) years of age on a seasonal basis. Nipper members are required to gain the relevant Junior Award in lifesaving and achieve preliminary and proficiency assessments for that member’s age group each season. For further information of this category please refer to the Broome Surf Life Saving Club Nipper Induction Booklet.

Family #top
Family membership is available to one or both parents with children registered in Juniors (Nippers).   Parents eligible for family membership, wishing to compete at any level of Inter-club competition, shall take out the appropriate active, active reserve, long service, or associate membership, and shall pay the relevant membership fee and associated levies.

Social #top
Social membership is open to any person over the age of eighteen years and entitles the member to utilise the Bar facilities only.   Social members must abide by any Club Rules or Regulations and abide by the Liquor Licensing laws.

Youth Membership #top
This group consists of 3 age groups - U15 (Cadet), U17 and U19 and are designed to further enhance skill and knowledge development.  Youth membership is an exciting time at Broome SLSC. It is a time where young members can try out different skills and interests in Surf Lifesaving.

Once members have completed the U14 season in Nippers they can move up into the Cadet group.   Youth in this category will be expected to have completed or obtained proficiency in their Surf Resuscitation Certificate and will have commenced active patrol.  Eligible Youth members are required to gain the Bronze Medallion (age 15) within the season or if this has been gained in a previous season, to pass the Annual Proficiency Test.

All Youth members are required to complete rostered patrols and attend relevant club training and weekly competition events and may compete at surf carnivals and participate in interclub competition events.

Active Membership #top
Active members are the senior element of the club who undertake patrols with possession of a Bronze Medallion, which qualifies them to be fully-fledged, surf lifesavers.

Active members are expected to fulfil Patrol and Club requirements as required by Surf Life Saving Western Australia, and in accordance with the club’s by-laws. Active members shall complete the Annual Proficiency Test each season, unless the Bronze Medallion has been gained in that season.

Active members may compete at surf carnivals and participate in interclub competition events.

Probationary Membership #top
This category accommodates new members until they gain their SLSA award or placed in an appropriate category.

Active Reserve Membership #top

Long Service members are exempt from performance of any Patrol duties however a club our size would appreciate it if these members could contribute a minimum of 12 patrol hours. In all other respects they have the same privileges and duties as Active members.
