Cadets get involved in two key areas of the club, patrols and competition.
The beach environment down on Cable Beach is sensational with the highlight being the Sunday morning competition. Cadets are required to gain their Surf Rescue Certificate and participate in patrols. Age requirements are a minimum of 14 and maximum of 17. Competition is made up of point events, trophy events and annual club championships. There are a number of events which cadets can compete in throughout the season including:
SWIM - BOARD - FLAGS - BEACH SPRINTS
The point events are handicapped and are made up of weekly events which are detailed on the club calendar. A full list and description of trophy events and championship events can be found in the club Constitution.
All Cadet members are encouraged to be involved in the weekly Sunday events. As part of being a patrolling member, fitness (including ocean swimming fitness) and lifesaving skills are essential to ensure you are ready when faced with any number of possible situations. Cadets are also encouraged to participate in the weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday training sessions down at the Club. All participants meet at the gear shed at 4.30pm, where the programme for the day is discussed before training commencement.
